SERVICE INFORMATION
The Air Conditioning (A/C) Solenoid Valve shown in Figure 1 is now available as a separate
service part. If replacement is needed, follow the Service Procedure on the next page.
NOTE: The A/C Solenoid Valve is located at the passenger side rear engine
compartment area next to upper strut mount.

SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Evacuate the A/C system.

Refer to the Electronic Service Manual (ESM), section HA – Heater & Air
Conditioning System, for evacuation information.

2. Disconnect the A/C Solenoid Valve
harness connector.

3. Disconnect the two refrigerant lines from
the A/C Solenoid Valve.

4. Remove the two A/C Solenoid Valve
mounting bolts.

5. Remove the A/C Solenoid Valve.

6. Remove the old O-rings from the
refrigerant lines.
7. Remove any dirt or debris from the
refrigerant line O-ring sealing surfaces.

8. Install new O-rings to the refrigerant
lines.

Apply “Type S” A/C lubricant to the
new O-rings after installation.

9. Carefully install the A/C Solenoid Valve
onto the refrigerant lines, but do not
reattach the nuts yet.

NOTE: Take care to avoid O-ring
damage.
10. Install the two mounting bolts that attach
the A/C Solenoid Valve to the vehicle.

Bolt torque:
5.5 N•m (0.56 kg-m, 49 in-lbs.)

11. Reattach the refrigerant line nuts to the
A/C Solenoid Valve.


Nut torque:
9.8 N•m (1.0 kg-m, 86 in-lbs.).
12. Connect the A/C Solenoid Valve harness.
13. Recharge the A/C system.


recharging information.
