Service Technical Information 68/13 ENU WD49 2 WD49 - Tightening Fastening Screw on Tailpipe Covers (Stop Sale Campaign/Workshop Campaign) Vehicle Type: 911 Turbo (991)/911 Turbo S (991) Model Year: 2014 Concerns: Tailpipe covers Information: This is to inform you of a voluntary Workshop Campaign on the above-mentioned vehicles. There is a possibility that the fastening screw on the tailpipe covers on the affected vehicles was not tightened to the specified tightening torque. Action Required: Tighten fastening screw on the tailpipe covers to the prescribed tightening torque. Affected Vehicles: The VIN(s) can be checked by using PIWIS Vehicle Information link to verify if the campaign affects the vehicle. This campaign is scope specific to the VIN! Failure to verify in PIWIS may result in an improper repair. This vehicle affects 48 dealers in the United States. ALL VEHICLES ARE STILL EITHER IN GERMANY OR ENROUTE TO U.S. PORTS. ALL REPAIRS WILL BE COMPLETED AT THE PORTS PRIOR TO DELIVERY TO DEALERSHIPS. Tools: Nr.90 Pos.3 - Torque wrench 10-60 Nm (7.5-44 ftlb.) AfterSales Oct 3, 2013 Page 1 of 3 2 Service WD49 ENU 2 Technical Information 68/13 Tighten fastening screw on the tailpipe cover on the left in direction of travel. 2.1 Align the tailpipe cover with the rear apron if necessary. To do this, first loosen the fastening screw on the tailpipe cover slightly if necessary and align the tailpipe cover. Information The fastening screw on the tailpipe covers must be tightened slowly by hand using a suitable torque wrench. An electric or pneumatic screwdriver must never be used! 2.2 Tighten fastening screw Tightening fastening screw -2- on the tailpipe cover Tightening fastening screw -1- on the main muffler on the left in direction of travel. Tightening torque 30 Nm (22 ftlb.) 3 Tighten fastening screw on the tailpipe cover on the right in direction of travel. To do this, carry out Steps 2.1 and 2.2 on the right tailpipe cover. 4 Lower the vehicle and remove it from the lifting platform Workshop Manual '4X00IN Lifting the vehicle'. Open campaigns may be checked by using either the PIWIS Vehicle Information system or through PQIS Job Creation. Labor, parts, and sublet will be automatically inserted when Technician is selected in WWS/PQIS. If necessary, the required part numbers will need to be manually entered into warranty system by the dealer administrator.
