Service Technical Information 49/12 ENU WC40 6 WC40 - Reworking Wind Deflector (Stop Sale Campaign) Vehicle Type: 911 Carrera (991)/911 Carrera S (991) Model Year: As of 2012 up to 2013 Concerns: Wind deflector Revision 2: June 15, 2012, this revision amends this Technical Information Bulletin to include an additional 1,942 retail sold vehicles. Owners of these vehicles will be notified by PCNA via mail beginning June 15, 2012 that they should contact their servicing dealer for the wind deflector rework outlined below. Information: This is to inform you of a voluntary Workshop Campaign on the above-mentioned vehicles. There is the possibility that the wind deflector will not reach its end position when closing the convertible top in the event of unfavorable tolerances on the affected vehicles. As a result, the convertible top cannot be closed completely. Information If the convertible top cannot be closed because the wind deflector cannot be lowered, the wind deflector can be lowered manually. To do this, press the wind deflector button in the center console and press the wind deflector to the rear with your hand at the same time. Action Required: Rework the wind deflector. Affected Vehicles: The VIN(s) can be checked by using PIWIS Vehicle Information link to verify if the campaign affects the vehicle. This Campaign is scope specific to the VIN! Failure to verify in PIWIS may result in an improper repair. Fastening screw securing mounting plate to side trim panel Tightening torque 5.7 Nm (4 ftlb.) +/-0.5 Nm (+/-0.5 ftlb.) 14 Carry out a function test on the wind deflector. 14.1 Switch on ignition. 14.2 Raise and lower the wind deflector by pressing the button in the centre console. 14.3 Switch off ignition. 15 Install rear side trim panels. Installation is performed in reverse order to removal. Locking pins for seat backrest Tightening torque 35 Nm (26ftlb.) +1 Nm (+0.5 ftlb.) -2 Nm (-1.5 ftlb.) Fastening screw securing side trim panel to B-pillar Tightening torque 3 Nm (2 ftlb.) +/-0.2 Nm (+/-0.1 ftlb.) 16 Install rear cover. Installation is performed in reverse order to removal. Installation is performed in reverse order to removal. 18 Close the convertible top fully. 19 Enter the campaign in the Warranty and Maintenance booklet. Attachment "B": Administrative Procedure - Workshop Campaign WC40 Warranty claims should be submitted via WWS/PQIS. Note: Open campaigns can be checked by using the PIWIS Vehicle Information link. Labor, parts, and sublet will be automatically inserted when Technician is selected in WWS/PQIS.
