June 15, 2012, this revision amends this Technical Information Bulletin to include an additional 1,942
retail sold vehicles. Owners of these vehicles will be notified by PCNA via mail beginning June 15, 2012
that they should contact their servicing dealer for the wind deflector rework outlined below.
Information:
This is to inform you of a voluntary Workshop Campaign on the above-mentioned vehicles. There is the
possibility that the wind deflector will not reach its end position when closing the convertible top in the
event of unfavorable tolerances on the affected vehicles. As a result, the convertible top cannot be
closed completely.
Information
If the convertible top cannot be closed because the wind deflector cannot be lowered, the wind deflector
can be lowered manually.
To do this, press the wind deflector button in the center console and press the wind deflector to the rear
with your hand at the same time.

Required:
Rework the wind deflector.
Affected

The VIN(s) can be checked by using PIWIS Vehicle Information link to verify if the campaign affects the
vehicle. This Campaign is scope specific to the VIN! Failure to verify in PIWIS may result in an improper
repair.

Remove trim panel for rear wall.

Fold rear-seat backrests forward.

Carefully lever off trim panel for rear wall
using a screwdriver and unclip it by pulling
it forward ⇒ Figure 1 -arrows-.

When opening the wind deflector for the first time,
get another person with a screwdriver to carefully
press the guide rails at the left and right of the wind
deflector forward at the same time and out of the
limit stops ⇒ Figure 15 -arrow-.

Open and close the wind deflector 20 times by hand

10 Repeat Steps 7 to 9 again.

12 Install pinion shaft for wind deflector drive.

Move wind deflector by hand to its end
position “wind deflector raised” (synchronous
operation).

Insert pinion shaft ⇒ Figure 17 -3- as far as it
will go into the drive tubing ⇒ Figure 17 -4-.

Position drive plate ⇒ Figure 17 -2- on the
tubing and secure with the fastening screws

Raise and lower the wind deflector by pressing the button in the centre console.

Switch off ignition.

17 Install trim panel for rear wall.
Installation is performed in reverse order to removal.
18 Close the convertible top fully.
19 Enter the campaign in the Warranty and Maintenance booklet.
