Connector Cavity Plugs
VAH, VHD, VN
SP 371-051, Connector Cavity Plugs
(April 2016)
Certain VAH, VHD, and VN trucks built from 08/17/2015 to 10/18/2015 may have front
chassis harnesses with improperly installed connector cavity seals. On the connector to the
rear chassis extension, FCCE1 and FCCE2, the seals may be installed backwards and allow
moisture to enter the connector. If left uncorrected, the moisture will cause corrosion and
ultimately a failure of the harnesses. Remove the seals from the connector and re-insert them
in the correct direction. Special tools should not be required as the seals will not lock into
place when inserted improperly.
Procedure
You must read and understand the precautions and guidelines in Service Information,
Function Group 3, General Safety Practices, Electrical before performing this procedure. If
you are not properly trained and certified in this procedure, ask your supervisor for training
before you perform it.
DANGER
Do not attempt to repair or service this vehicle without having sufficient training, the correct
service literature and the proper tools. Failure to follow this could make the vehicle unsafe
and lead to serious personal injury or death.
1 Secure the vehicle for service by parking it on a flat level surface, applying the parking
brake, chocking the rear wheels, and placing the transmission in neutral or park.
2 Remove the driver side chassis fairing, if equipped.
3 Disconnect all cables from the negative (ground) battery terminals to prevent personal
injury from electrical shock and prevent damage to electrical components
4 Remove cable ties securing chassis harnesses.
