Mack Trucks Greensboro, NC USA Service Program Trucks Date Group No. Release Page 4.2017 215 876 01 1(8) Timing Gear Plate Screw, Installation CHU, CXU MP8 PI0876, Timing Gear Plate Screw, Installation (April 2017) This service program is limited to vehicles with US2017 emission engines with build dates of October 3, 2016 to November 17, 2016. This repair requires the installation of a missing screw in the timing gear plate into the flywheel housing as the referenced in this installation procedure. Clean any silicon debris from the screw hole before installation of the missing screw is required. The inner fender and the exhaust pipe behind the diffuser will require removal to gain access to the timing gear plate. Additionally, replacement of the exhaust clamps and gaskets are required during the reinstallation of the diffuser pipe. Follow the installation procedure outlined in this Product Improvement (PI). If you are not properly trained and certified in this procedure, ask your supervisor for training before you perform it. DANGER Do not attempt to repair or service this vehicle without having sufficient training, the correct service literature and the proper tools. Failure to follow this could make the vehicle unsafe and lead to serious personal injury or death. Page 2(8) Mack Trucks Service Program Date 4.2017 Group No. Release 215 876 01 1 Park the vehicle on a level surface and turn the front wheels to the left. 2 Apply the parking brake. 3 Place the transmission in neutral or park. 4 Install the wheel chocks. W7086748 5 Disconnect the cable from the battery’s negative terminal. W3086747 Page 3(8) Mack Trucks Service Program Date 4.2017 Group No. Release 215 876 01 6 Raise the hood. 7 Loosen the clamps securing the exhaust pipe from the diffuser to the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) inlet pipe. W2122411 8 Remove the exhaust pipe, clamps and gaskets. Note: Discard the clamps and gaskets, do not reuse. W2122413 10 Install the missing screw in the timing gear plate. 11 Tighten the screw to 24 ± 4 Nm (18 ± 3 ft-lb). W2122412 13 Tighten the clamps to 12 ± 1 Nm (9 ± 1 ft-lb).
