SERVICE PROCEDURE / INFORMATION:
Inspect the headlamp assemblies closely to confirm they have not been modified and that they are
Genuine Subaru (OEM) parts and not aftermarket replacement units. Photos comparing the OEM
part to examples of modified headlamps are provided below. Modified headlamps are not
warrantable.
Whenever replacing a headlamp assembly, always follow all the procedures in the applicable Service
Manual. In addition, pay close attention to the front bumper fascia R&R along with the headlamp
and fog lamp aiming procedures (where required). Replace only the affected headlamp assembly if
this concern is duplicated.
CAUTION: When replacing headlamp assemblies, always avoid touching the bulbs as skin oils will
cause damage and reduce bulb life. If you do inadvertently touch a bulb, clean it thoroughly with
isopropyl alcohol to remove any oil.
