Introduction
Some 2013 – 2014 model year ES 300h and ES 350 vehicles may exhibit a condition where the
seat cooler operation is less than customer expectation. This is due to the air duct collapsing when
there is weight in the seat, thus restricting air flow through the air duct. Use the following bulletin to
address this condition.
Production Change Information
This bulletin applies to:
• All 2013 model year ES 300h and ES 350 vehicles.
• 2014 model year ES 350 and ES 300h vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Change
Effective VINs shown below.

• This repair is covered under the Lexus Basic Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 48 months
or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle’s in-service date.

1. Verify customer concern while sitting in seat.
2. Remove affected front seat assembly per Repair Manual instructions.

4. Gently separate rear portion of sub-pad from
main pad assembly by separating glue spots
noted in Figure 2.

5. Apply double-sided tape to duct as shown in
Figure 4.

6. Adhere duct to sub-pad.
A. Align curved shape of duct profile to indented
portion of sub-pad cutout (narrow end of duct
will align with ridge of seat sub-pad).

B. Align side edges of duct with sides of
sub-pad cutout.

Ensure duct is positioned such that ends
will NOT be blocked once weight is added
to seat.

7. Reinstall sub-pad to main pad using Gorilla Tape™ along the sides of the sub-pad.
8. Reassemble front seat assembly per Repair Manual instructions.

10. Confirm seat cover fit by verifying seat covers are installed correctly and are not bunched-up
or crooked.
11. Confirm the operation of ALL the seat functions after reassembly.
12. If passenger seat was removed, perform seat zero point calibration/sensitivity check.
13. Verify proper air flow through seat assembly.
