Condition/Concern
Human Machine Interface (HMI) damage has been noted as a result of installing the incorrect software when USB programming
Recommendation/Instructions
When USB programming new HMI's or updating original HMI's, please select Human Machine Interface Control Module – USB Copy/USB File Transfer for each
specific VIN you are working on. Using the incorrect USB software loaded from a previous vehicle can cause damage to the HMI. TIS-2-WEB will now check
the software currently loaded on the USB. If the files are incorrect for the vehicle, the files will be deleted and the correct files will be loaded to the USB. If the
files loaded are correct TIS-2-WEB will indicate the USB is ready and provide the technician a warranty code
GM bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, NOT a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform these technicians of conditions that may
occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools,
safety instructions, and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, DO NOT assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that
your vehicle will have that condition. See your GM dealer for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
