Introduction
Some 2012-2014 Tacoma vehicles equipped with SET accessory fog lights may exhibit
a customer concern of no crank or crank no start due to low battery voltage after long
term vehicle storage. This condition can be caused by a parasitic draw from the SET
accessory fog lights. The following modifications to the SET accessory fog lamps to will
reduce battery parasitic drain, improving long term vehicle storage battery life.
Warranty Information
For Dealers located in the Southeast Region, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, or
North Carolina, Submit Warranty claim utilizing the information below.

Replacement
Port Installed Option (PIO) ‐ is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles from the vehicle’s in‐service date, whichever
occurs first. Unless otherwise specified in vehicle VIN inquiry.
Dealer Installed Option (DIO) ‐ is in effect for 12 months, regardless of mileage, from the date the part(s) was installed
on the vehicle or the remainder of any applicable New Vehicle Limited Warranty, whichever provides greater
coverage.
Over the Counter Sale (OCS) ‐ is in effect for 12 months, regardless of mileage, from the date the part(s) were sold.
Labor is not warranted for over‐the counter service part replacements.

Tacoma Fog Light Parasitic Draw
Inspection
1. Perform a TIS VIN inquiry to verify Vehicle has SET Accessory fog lights installed.

Port Installed Accessories are identified with “LF 10: Fog Lights” in the Vehicle
Info Tab

Dealer installed Accessories are identified with the kit part number (00016-35220)
appears in service history.

This TSB does not apply if vehicle does not have SET accessory fog lights.
2. Inspect accessory wiring.
 The Fog Light Positive (Red) wire is
connected to the Positive Battery
Terminal.

In this configuration the Accessory Fog light relays tied to the harness
behind the driver’s kick panel will have 12 volts available at all times.

Proceed to Repair Section in this TSB.
 The Fog Light Positive (Red) wire is
connected to a White-Green near
instrument panel junction block
connector 1A pin 5

In this configuration the Accessory Fog light relays tied to the harness
behind the driver’s kick panel will have 12 volts only when Ignition “ON”.

This TSB DOES NOT apply. Refer to Service Manual for further
diagnostic info.

Repair
1. Replace Accessory Wire Harness
Reference 00016-35220 SET Accessory Installation instructions on TIS for replacement
of 00016-35220-01 Wire harness.
Instructions were updated to reflect changes of system on 11/4/2013
2. Verify Parasitic Amp draw measurement.
 If parasitic draw exceeds specification, refer to TIS for further diagnostics.
