Service Technical Information 127/14 ENU WE89 3 WE89 - Replacing Control Unit For All-wheel Drive System (Workshop Campaign) Vehicle Type: 911 Turbo (991)/911 Turbo S (991) Model Year: As of 2014 up to 2015 Concerns: Control unit for all-wheel drive system Porsche Traction Management (PTM) Information: This is to inform you of a voluntary Workshop Campaign on the above-mentioned vehicles. The affected vehicles were fitted with a control unit for the all-wheel drive system in which a purging routine for the hydraulic pump drive for the multiplate clutch is not activated due to an error in the control unit software. This can cause wear particles to clog up the hydraulic pump drive over the service life of the vehicle, resulting in higher power consumption for the pump drive. As a result, the all-wheel drive system will be deactivated and the warning message "No all-wheel sys. – Only rear-wh drive – Adapted driving permitted" will be displayed in the instrument cluster. Action Required: Replace control unit for all-wheel drive system. Affected Vehicles: The VIN(s) can be checked by using PIWIS Vehicle Information link to verify if the campaign affects the vehicle. This campaign is scope specific to the VIN! Failure to verify in PIWIS may result in an improper repair. This campaign affects 2,801 vehicles in North America. Parts Info: NOTE: PARTS FOR THIS CAMPAIGN WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY ALLOCATED FOR UP TO 50% OF THE VEHICLES THAT ARE SERVICED AT YOUR DEALERSHIP. ONCE YOUR DEALERSHIP IS OUT OF STOCK AND REQUIRES ADDITIONAL PARTS, YOU SHOULD SUBMIT A PTEC/PAV. Before getting started, connect a suitable battery charger with a current rating of at least 70 A to the jump-start terminals in the engine compartment. NOTICE Coding will be aborted if the WLAN connection is unstable. • An unstable WLAN connection can interrupt communication between PIWIS Tester II and the vehicle communication module (VCI).
