Service Technical Information 92/14 ENU WE62 6 WE62 - Replacing Shouldered Bolt on Convertible Top Frame (Workshop Campaign) Vehicle Type: 911 Targa 4 (991)/911 Targa 4S (991) Model Year: 2015 Concerns: Shouldered bolt on convertible top frame Information: This is to inform you of a voluntary Workshop Campaign on the above-mentioned vehicles. There is a possibility that shouldered bolts that do not meet the required specifications may have been installed on the convertible top frame on the affected vehicles. As a result, the shouldered bolt can become loose while driving, resulting in noises from around the convertible top frame. If the shouldered bolt is lost, the convertible top can malfunction while opening and closing. The convertible top can then only be closed using the emergency operation mechanism. Action Required: Replace shouldered bolt on convertible top frame. Affected Vehicles: The VIN(s) can be checked by using PIWIS Vehicle Information link to verify if the campaign affects the vehicle. This campaign is scope specific to the VIN! Failure to verify in PIWIS may result in an improper repair. This campaign affects 8 vehicles in North America. Installation Position: Installation position of shouldered bolt for convertible top frame Information The procedure described here must be carried out on both gate guides for the convertible top frame. The figures show the work to be carried out on the left side of the vehicle in direction of travel. The work on the right side of the vehicle must be carried out in the same way. Service Technical Information 92/14 ENU WE62 6 Preliminary work Procedure: 1 2 Move convertible top into position. 1.1 Switch on ignition. 1.2 Move convertible top to the rear electrically until the convertible top has reached the position shown in the illustration Positioning convertible top. 1.3 Cancel the opening process, switch off ignition and remove ignition key. Move both front seats all the way forward and fold the backrest over. AfterSales Apr 1, 2015 Page 3 of 7 6 Service WE62 ENU Technical Information 92/14 Removing sound absorber 2 Place a suitable collection mat Removing sound absorber -2- under the convertible top frame Removing sound absorber -arrows- to prevent small parts from falling into the gap when removing the shouldered bolt. 3 Remove shouldered bolt on convertible top frame. 3.1 Counter the shouldered bolt Removing shouldered bolt -1- with a screwdriver and unscrew and remove the lock nut Removing shouldered bolt -2-. 3.2 Unscrew shouldered bolt Removing shouldered bolt -1- and remove it with the Teflon washer Removing shouldered bolt -3- and bushing Removing shouldered bolt -4- ( Removing shouldered bolt -arrow A-). 3.3 Remove Teflon washer Removing shouldered bolt -3- between the rocker arm and gate guide Removing shouldered bolt -arrow B-. Service Technical Information 4 5 92/14 ENU WE62 6 Install new shouldered bolt together with new fastening parts and small parts from the repair kit, Porsche Part No. 000.043.302.71. 4.1 Insert one of the two Teflon washers Installing shouldered bolt -3- between the rocker arm and gate guide Installing shouldered bolt -arrow A-. 4.2 Slide the second Teflon washer Installing shouldered bolt -3- together with the bushing Installing shouldered bolt -4- onto the shouldered bolt Installing shouldered bolt -1-. 4.3 Screw in shouldered bolt Installing shouldered bolt -1- using a screwdriver and change the gate guide in order to fit the bushing straight on if necessary Installing shouldered bolt -arrow B-. Installing shouldered bolt 4.4 Screw in shouldered bolt Installing shouldered bolt -1-. Tightening torque 4 Nm (3 ftlb.) 4.5 Fit lock nut Installing shouldered bolt -2- and tighten it hand-tight. Subsequent work Procedure: 1 Perform function test on convertible top. To do this, actuate the switch in the centre console and open and close the convertible top fully once. 2 Install side trim panel for rear luggage compartment Workshop Manual '700319 Removing and installing side trim panel for rear luggage compartment (Targa) - section on "Installing"'. 3 Install trim panel for roll-over bar Workshop Manual '708119 Removing and installing trim panel for roll-over bar - section on "Installing"'. 4 Install trim panel for convertible top compartment at the sides Workshop Manual '700819 Removing and installing trim panel for convertible top compartment (Targa) - section on "Installing"'. 5 Remove protective cover from the vehicle. 6 Move front seats back to their original position. 7 Enter the workshop campaign in the Warranty and Maintenance booklet. Information The specified working time was determined specifically for carrying out this campaign and may differ from the working times published in the Labor Operation List in PIWIS. Attachment "B": Claim Submission - Workshop Campaign WE62 Warranty claims should be submitted via WWS/PQIS. Open campaigns may be checked by using either the PIWIS Vehicle Information system or through PQIS Job Creation. Labor, parts, and sublet will be automatically inserted when Technician is selected in WWS/PQIS.
