Rubber sleeve between pressure pipe and throttle housing
Information:
This is to inform you of a voluntary Workshop Campaign on the above-mentioned vehicles. There
is a possibility that the clamp for the rubber sleeve was not tightened to a sufficiently high
tightening torque on the pressure pipe and as a result, the rubber sleeve can slip off the
pressure pipe on the affected vehicles.
If this happens, full performance will no longer be guaranteed.
Action
Required:
Check that the rubber sleeve is fitted securely on the pressure pipe and tighten the clamp.

The VIN(s) can be checked by using PIWIS Vehicle Information link to verify if the campaign affects the
vehicle. This campaign is scope specific to the VIN! Failure to verify in PIWIS may result in an improper
repair. This campaign affects 2,718 vehicles with a projected 3.5% failure rate.
Tools:
Torque wrench, 2-10 Nm (1.5-7.5 ftlb.), e.g. V.A.G 1783 - Torque wrench, 2-10 Nm (1.5-7.5 ftlb.)

NOTE: Parts allocation to PCNA from PAG is based on a projected 3.5% failure rate. Parts should be
ordered via a PTEC/PAV. PLEASE BE CONSERVATIVE IN ORDERING PARTS AS THEY WILL REMAIN
IN SHORT SUPPLY THROUGHOUT THE DURATION OF THIS CAMPAIGN.
If the rubber sleeve has slipped off the pressure pipe, the rubber sleeve must be replaced.

Remove engine-compartment blower  Workshop Manual '198119 Removing and installing enginecompartment blower'.

Pull out air guide at the retaining clips  Removing air
guide -arrows- and remove it in an upward direction.

Check that the rubber sleeve is fitted securely on
the pressure pipe.
Also make sure that the rubber sleeve is fitted
correctly on the pressure pipe all the way around

the pressure pipe or has already slipped off
the pressure pipe  Checking that rubber

Release primary lock on the boost pressure
sensor connector  Disconnecting
connector and line -1- and disconnect
connector.

Release vacuum line at the pressure pipe 
Disconnecting connector and line -2- and
disconnect it.

Loosen clamps  Rubber sleeve and
pressure pipe -1 and 4- for the rubber sleeve
fully.

Pull off rubber sleeve  Rubber sleeve and
pressure pipe -2- on the pressure pipe 

the throttle housing.

Pull pressure pipe slightly to the rear and
remove rubber sleeve by pulling it to the right
and out of the engine compartment.

Guide new rubber sleeve, Part No.
997.110.647.73, into the engine
compartment from the right and position it on
the pressure pipe and on the throttle housing.

Rubber sleeve and pressure pipe
Align rubber sleeve and check that the clamps are inside the markings.
Tighten clamps for the rubber sleeve.
5.1
Tighten clamp  Rubber sleeve and pressure pipe -1- for the rubber sleeve on the pressure
pipe hand-tight and then tighten it to the specified tightening torque.
Tightening torque 5 Nm (3.5 ftlb.)
Wait for 5 minutes to allow the clamp to settle and then tighten it again to a tightening
torque of 5 Nm (3.5 ftlb.).
5.2
Tighten clamp  Rubber sleeve and pressure pipe -4- for the rubber sleeve on the throttle
housing hand-tight and then tighten it to the specified tightening torque.

Wait for 5 minutes to allow the clamp to settle and then tighten it again to a tightening
torque of 5 Nm (3.5 ftlb.).

Perform a visual inspection and check that the rubber sleeve is fitted securely.

Connect vacuum line  Connecting connector and
line -2- to the pressure pipe until it engages securely.

Plug in boost pressure sensor connector 
Connecting connector and line -1- and secure it with
the primary lock.

Apply a light coating of Klüber Syntheso Glep on
the rubber sleeve  Installing air guide -1- before
installing the air guide.
10 Position the air guide in the air ducts and press it into
the retaining clips  Installing air guide -2-.
11 Check that the air guide  Installing air guide -2- is
seated correctly in the air ducts.
12 Install engine-compartment blower  Workshop
