To prevent the engine from overheating, the engine speed is automatically limited to the displayed maximum. • One of the following DTCs is stored in the engine control module (ECM), J623 (address word 01): • DTC P059700 (Thermostat for map-controlled engine cooling F265, circuit open) • DTC P059900 (Thermostat for map-controlled engine cooling F265, short circuit to positive) • DTC P218100 (Fault in cooling system) Technical Background Tolerances of opening spring in thermostat cause the condition. © 2016 Audi of America, Inc. Service If one of the DTCs listed in the Condition is stored, replace the coolant thermostat housing for map-controlled engine cooling (Figure 2).
