APPLIED VEHICLES: APPLIED VIN AND DATE: 2016-2017 Titan (A61) 2016-2017 Titan XD (A61) 2016 Titan / 2016 Titan XD All 2017 Titan / Titan XD Built before 1N6(*)A1(*)(*)(*)HN 561155 / July 27, 2017 IF YOU CONFIRM The rear parking brake shoes are dragging against the drum surface of the brake rotor and causing noise. ACTION Replace the rear parking brake shoes and retainer springs on both sides of the vehicle. If the parking brake shoes have worn through their lining and scored either the left side or right side drum surface of the brake rotor, or if any other related damage is present, replace the brake rotor on the affected side and replace the disc brake pads. IMPORTANT: The purpose of ACTION (above) is to give you a quick idea of the work you will be performing. You MUST closely follow the entire Service Procedure as it contains information that is essential to successfully completing the repair. Qualified technicians are properly trained individuals who have the equipment, tools, safety instruction, and know-how to do a job properly and safely. See your Nissan dealer to determine if this applies to your vehicle. 1/3 SERVICE PROCEDURE 1. Remove the brake shoes and retainer springs on both sides of the rear axle. Refer to the Electronic Service Manual (ESM), section PB – Parking Brake System for procedure to remove parking brake shoes. 2. Install new rear brake shoes and new retainer springs on both sides of the rear axle. Refer to the ESM, section PB – Parking Brake System for procedure to reassemble the rear brakes and for break in procedure. 3. Inspect the old parking brake shoes and the inner drum surfaces of the brake rotors for metal to metal contact or other contact related damage. If damage is present, replace only the affected brake rotor and replace the left and right rear disc brake pads.
