SCOPE
Some 2008-2017 Model year Chrysler Town and Country and 2017 Dodge Grand Caravans built
between from 10/28/2016 to 3/13/2017 may have the incorrect CARB Executive Order (EO)
number typed into the VMI label attached to the fuel tank. This letter will provide inspection
criteria and replacement instructions if the label is incorrect.
CONTENTS
1) Identify the VMI Build date by
inspecting the white sticker
located on the driver’s side door
jamb
2) If the vehicle’s VMI build date
falls between 10/28/2016 to
3/13/2017 locate the fuel tank
label located on the driver’s
side on the vehicle.
(see picture for examples)

3) Locate the Calif. ARB EXEC.
ORDER NO.
4) If the number is D417-53;
YOU HAVE NO FURTHER ACTION
IF the number is NOT D417-53;
a. take a picture of the incorrect
label and contact VMI Tech
Support.
b. Send a copy of the picture
along with the VIN and a
request for a replacement label.
Do Not remove the incorrect label
until you have the replacement
ready to install
5) AFTER RECEIPT of the correct
label, carefully remove the
discrepant label using your
fingers or a PLASTIC PUTTY
KNIFE
*IMPORTANT*
Do NOT use any tool that can cause
damage to the tank or generate
any sparks

6) Carefully clean the area where
the replacement label will be
placed. Make sure to clean and
dry an area LARGER than the
label to ensure proper adhesion.
*IMPORTANT*
Do NOT use any solvent based
cleaners
7) Apply the replacement label in
the cleaned area making sure
there are no air pockets under
the label after application.
