Condition
• The air conditioning system does not blow cold air.
• One or more of the following DTCs is stored in the air conditioning / heating
electronics control module, J255 (address word 08):
• DTC VAG00256 with fault symptom 2 (Sensor for refrigerant pressure
/ temperature - lower limit not reached)
• DTC VAG00256 with fault symptom 1 (Sensor for refrigerant pressure
/ temperature - upper limit exceeded)
• DTC B10C221 (Sensor for refrigerant pressure and temperature lower
limit not reached)
• DTC B10AE31 (High pressure sensor no signal)
• DTC B10AE04 (High pressure sensor faulty)
• DTC B10ABF0 (Refrigerant pressure lower limit not reached)
• In the course of diagnosis, the refrigerant circuit volume is checked and the
refrigerant volume is correct. No leaks can be found.
• Normally, the diagnostic conclusion faults the high pressure sensor G395
(Figure 1), and it is subsequently replaced. The air conditioning system then
functions normally.

Production Solution
No changes to production have been made, as no issue has been identified with the high pressure sensor G395.
Service
For A3 sedan and A3 cabriolet vehicles up to and including VIN F1106816:
Verify that the air conditioning does not cool.
Check the refrigerant volume in the circuit:
• If the refrigerant volume is correct, refer to TSB 2038023: 87 Air conditioning does not cool and/or compressor
is noisy.
• If the refrigerant volume is not correct, continue diagnosis into a refrigerant circuit leak and repair as
necessary outside of this bulletin.
For all other vehicles (including A3 sedan and A3 cabriolet vehicles after VIN F1106816):
Verify that the air conditioning does not cool.
Check the refrigerant volume in the circuit:
• If the refrigerant volume is correct and one of the DTCs listed in the Condition section is stored, do not replace
any parts and do not perform any repairs. Open a TAC contact for further instruction. These cases are needed
for on-site analysis to determine the root cause of the issue.
• If the refrigerant volume is not correct, continue diagnosis into a refrigerant circuit leak and repair as
necessary outside of this bulletin. No contact with TAC is necessary.
