Various noises, such as humming, vibration, and/or rattling are heard coming from under the vehicle or from near
the center console area. The noises may appear in the following circumstances:
• When the vehicle is driven at highway speeds.
• During hard acceleration when RPMs are high.
• During deceleration from 40 mph.
• During acceleration from a stop.
Technical Background
While these types of noises could be attributed to a number of components in the vehicle, misaligned front
exhaust hangers may be a contributing factor.

Note:
Adjustments of the exhaust system must be done with extra care in order to prevent damage to the decoupling
element.
• Decoupling element must not be bent more than 10 degrees.
• Do not load decoupling element on cable.
• Do not damage wire mesh at decoupling element.
• Follow Elsa instructions for proper alignment of the exhaust.
1. Inspect the alignment of the front exhaust hangers
(Figure 1).

2. Loosen both hangers and adjust according to the instructions in Elsa at Engine >> Engine Mechanical >> 26
Exhaust System, Emission Controls, Removal and Installation and Exhaust System, Installing without
Tension.
3. Test drive vehicle to verify repair.
