37 Transmission warning message in cluster; gearbox in limp mode (DTC P17E100) 37 17 76 2034163/2 February 27, 2017. Shortly after a cold start, the following message appears in the instrument cluster display: “Gearbox Malfunction! Journey can be continued”. The gearbox is in limp mode until the key is cycled. The issue is very sporadic and cannot be reproduced with a test drive. DTC P17E1 (Gear positioner 2 mechanical malfunction) with DFCC 9473 is stored in the DSG transmission Mechatronic control module (J743) (address word 0002). Follow all instructions in the attached TSB, 2011732, 00 Software Version Management (SVM), operating instructions. 2.
