Technical Tips Technical Tip Topic 37-17-01TT - Mechatronics Unit or Transmission Replacement Tips (including DTC P309D) after the K0 Clutch Line is Opened for Service Market area United States 444 Volkswagen of America, Inc. (6444) Brand Volkswagen Date March 24, 2017 Condition ATTENTION: THIS IS A TECH TIP, NOT A TECHNICAL BULLETIN. TECH TIPS ARE NOT ASSOCIATED WITH WARRANTY CLAIMING. Mechatronics Unit or Transmission Replacement Tips (including DTC P309D) after the K0 Clutch Line is Opened for Service Model(s) Year Jetta Hybrid 2013-2016 Eng. Code Trans. Code 1.4L 7 spd. DSG CNLA (OCG) VIN Range From VIN Range To All All Technical Background After replacement of the mechatronic unit or transmission assembly, DTC P309D may set. DTC Description P309D Clutch Disengagement Actuator Insufficient Slip with Disengaged Clutch Service When replacing the DQ200 7 speed DSG transmission, the transmission may arrive with a yellow and black plastic cap installed on the K0 clutch actuator, as shown in figure 1. This plastic cap should be removed and replaced with the aluminum cap found in the original K0 clutch actuator, as shown in figure 2. The yellow and black plastic cap should be reinstalled in place of the aluminum cap on the original transmission. 1 Technical Tips Figure 2 Figure 1 1. If this cap is not transferred, fault code P309D may set in the transmission control module (TCM). 2. If the K0 aluminum cap was transferred over and P309D sets, or if there are issues with the Guided Functions K0 clutch bleed, perform the following steps: a) All faults have been cleared through Vehicle OBD b) High Voltage connectors must have an audible click when secured c) Parking brake is in the “OFF” position d) All 4 passenger doors and hood remain closed during the basic settings e) Trunk is “Open” with a battery maintainer installed on the 12v battery After the above steps have been completed, perform K0 bleed test plan: Step One: Using ODIS, go to AW01 ECM Guided Functions Bleed Disengaging Clutch then select option (1) Ventilation and follow the Guided Functions steps in the test plan. Step one should take up to 30 minutes to complete. Once the test is completed, the test plan will usually exit out to the main control module OBD screen of ODIS. Step Two: Using ODIS, go to AW01 ECM Guided Functions Bleed Disengaging Clutch then select option (2) Air Entrapment and follow the Guided Functions steps in the test plan. If DTC P309D returns, top off the Mechatronic with 30ml and perform the K0 bleed test again. The K0 bleed test may need to be repeated several times to remove all air trapped in the system.
