Condition
The customer reports one of the following conditions in high ambient temperatures (above 110° F):
• At low throttle input, transmission upshifts are delayed until high RPM.
• At low throttle input, transmission does not upshift until 3,500 – 4,000 RPM.
Technical Background
In hot climates with high ambient temperatures (above 110° F), upshifts to the next gear are delayed, even at light
throttle (up to 4,000 RPM). Due to the heat of the air, the upshift is delayed to help prevent poor engine
performance at low RPM. The software has been changed for improved driving comfort.
Tip: This topic should not be confused with the topic in which the driver accidentally leaves the gear selector
in Sport mode, which causes a similar condition, but can occur at any ambient temperature.
Production Solution
New software in the transmission control module, J743, addressed the condition.
