Technical Service Bulletin 17 Instrument cluster fault stored (DTC 00003 - no or incorrect basic setting/adaptation) 17 13 40 2034550/1 July 24, 2013. Model(s) Year VIN Range Vehicle-Specific Equipment A3 2011-2013 All Not Applicable Condition • DTC 00003 (Control Module - no or incorrect basic setting/adaptation) is stored in the instrument cluster control module, J285 (address word 17). It may be present following a reset of the Service Reminder Interval. • There are no functional issues with the instrument cluster. Technical Background The instrument cluster is pre-programmed to allow a maximum service interval of 15,000 kilometers, and checks to see that this value is not exceeded. The US market uses a service interval of 10,000 miles, which is equal to 16,000 kilometers. Because this value is higher than the maximum allowed service interval, the discrepancy causes the DTC to set. Production Solution Not applicable. Service • If there are no functional issues with the instrument cluster, disregard the DTC. • If there are functional issues with the instrument cluster, this bulletin does not apply.
