Issue: Some 2016-1017 Police Interceptor Sedan vehicles equipped with a 3.5L/3.7L Twin Independent Variable
Camshaft Timing (Ti-VCT) engine may exhibit an inoperative police option accessory that requires a hardwired
vehicle speed signal.
Action: Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

Service Procedure
1. Is the accessory connected to circuit VMC05 for vehicle speed signal? Refer to Wiring Diagram, Section 2413.
(1). Yes - proceed to Step 2.
(2). No - this article does not apply.
2. Replace the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-14.
3. Program the PCM using Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) release 106.01 or higher. Make sure you are
connected to the internet when entering module programming to obtain the latest updates. Calibration files
may also be obtained at www.motorcraftservice.com.
NOTE: ADVISE THE CUSTOMER THAT THIS VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH AN ADAPTIVE TRANSMISSION
SHIFT STRATEGY WHICH ALLOWS THE VEHICLE'S COMPUTER TO LEARN THE TRANSMISSION'S

THE COMPUTER WILL BEGIN A RE-LEARNING PROCESS. THIS RE-LEARNING PROCESS MAY RESULT
IN FIRMER THAN NORMAL UPSHIFTS AND DOWNSHIFTS FOR SEVERAL DAYS.
