Concern: Vehicle is stored for a long period of time in the sun and heat, typically 30 days or more. Several cases of compressors seizing have occurred at PDI. Please use the procedure below during the PDI as a precaution. Information: his issue has been remedied in production and this bulletin will expire on December 14, T 2017. The oil in the AC compressor can migrate out of the compressor. This is due to temperature variations between components in the AC system. When the AC is turned on, there is very little, if any, oil in the compressor. It seizes up as a result. PAG is aware of the issue. A long-term solution is being developed. The following procedure can help prevent this situation in the interim. Procedure: It is possible to perform a run-in procedure to get oil back into the compressor without it seizing. The engine and air conditioning system should be operated using the following process: 1. Ensure the air conditioning system is switched off. 2. Start the engine and run for 1 minute at idle. 3. Raise the engine speed to 2000 RPM for 5 minutes. 4. Return the engine speed to idle. 5. Set the air conditioning temperature to 72° F and the fan blower speed to 75% of the maximum blower speed. 6. Switch on the air conditioning system. 7. Ensure all the instrument panel air ducts are open. 8. Run the air conditioning system for a minimum of 5 continuous minutes with the engine at idle.
