File in Section: Service Bulletin Bulletin No.: Date: PI1259 June, 2014 PRELIMINARY INFORMATION Subject: Instrument Panel Cluster and Center of Instrument Panel Backlighting Operation Models: 2010-2015 Chevrolet Equinox 2010-2015 GMC Terrain Condition/Concern Some customers may comment that the instrument panel backlighting is not bright enough after leaving a darkened area. Recommendation/Instructions If the vehicle is started in a dark garage or darkened area, the automatic headlamp system comes on immediately. If it is light outside when the vehicle leaves the garage or darkened area, there is a delay, a maximum of 10 seconds in bright sunlight conditions, before the automatic headlamp system changes to the daytime running lamps (DRL). During that delay, the instrument panel cluster may not be as bright as usual. Make sure the instrument panel brightness control is in full bright position. See “Instrument Panel Illumination Control" in your Owner Manual. Important: Do not cover the light sensor on top of the instrument panel or the headlamps will come on when they are not needed. Customer Information Please communicate to the customer this condition is a normal operating characteristic of their vehicle. It will not impact the designed performance or reliability of the vehicle. Please share this information with the customer, including a copy of this message.
