TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN
SUBJECT:
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION OIL PRESSURE
CHARACTERISTIC VALUES DATA TRANSFER
This bulletin provides information regarding data transfer of automatic transmission (A/T)
characteristic values on 2015MY-2018MY K900 (KH) vehicles equipped with A8TR1 8-speed
A/T and 2017MY~ Sportage (QL), Forte (YDm), and Cadenza (YG) vehicles equipped with the
GEN2 Type (A6MF2-2 6-speed / A8LF1 8-speed) A/T. The type of solenoid valve used to
control gear shifts changed from indirect to direct control type to reduce oil capacity and
improve fuel efficiency.
Due to manufacturing tolerances, hydraulic pressure characteristics of transmission and
solenoids can vary. During assembly, these characteristics are stored in the TCU, and
compensated for to avoid shift shock or slip (delay). The hydraulic pressure characteristics are
then also recorded in a bar code format and attached to the transmission with a sticker, for
reference during Service/Repair. Whenever the TCU and/or A/T are replaced, the bar code
values must be entered into the TCU using the KDS, or shift shock or slip (delay) may occur
during gear shifts. Follow the procedure outlined in this bulletin to input the bar code values in
the newly replaced TCU and/or A/T.
2015MY - 2018MY K900 (KH)
Applicable GEN 2 /
A8TR1 type A/T
vehicles:
2017MY ~ Cadenza (YG)
2017MY ~ Sportage (QL)
2017MY ~ Forte (YDm)

 NOTICE
Failure to input the oil pressure characteristic values will cause the shift indicator in
the instrument cluster to blink.

 TIP
When the replacement transmission is unboxed from its shipping container, use
the camera on the KDS to take a picture of the QR tag located on top of the
transmission. This allows for easy retrieval of the QR tag numbers in the event the
QR reader has difficulties reading the QR tag in Step 2.
Data Input Procedure (After A/T Replacement):
1. From the KDS home screen, select S/W
Management → Automatic Transaxle
→ Oil Pressure Characteristics Input
(A/T Replacement) and select OK when
all enabling conditions have been met.
2.
Select OK to access the QR reader and
scan the QR tag (A) - Gen 2 Sample
shown. On A8TR1, the sticker is located
on the left side of the transmission case.
Once successfully scanned, the KDS will
transfer the data to the TCU.
NOTE: If the KDS cannot successfully
read the QR code, manually input all 68
digits from to left to right on the QR tag.
