The intervals shown in this table are based on vehicles operating under normal conditions. In case of severe conditions, such as
extremely low temperatures, excessive dust, etc., it is necessary for certain operations to be carried out in between the given intervals. This
applies particularly to engine oil changes and the cleaning or replacing of the air cleaner filter element.
Minor Maintenance
Brake pads: Check thickness and brake disc condition. Look for contact pattern and corrosion of brake discs (front and rear)
Engine: Change oil and replace filter
Service interval display: Reset
Sunroof water drains: Check for clearance and clean if necessary (Passat only)
Standard Maintenance (Includes All Minor Maintenance Items)
Automatic headlight control: Check (if equipped)
Battery: Check (and second battery if applicable)
Brake fluid: Check level
Brake pads: Check thickness and brake disc condition. Look for contact pattern and corrosion of brake discs (front and rear)
Coolant level and frost protection: Check
Engine and engine compartment components: Check (from above) for leaks and damage

Test drive: Check braking, kickdown, steering, electrical, heating and ventilation systems, air conditioning, handling, and parking

Front and rear coil springs and shock absorbers: Inspect
Hood latch: Lubricate (Does not apply to: Passat, Golf, Beetle, Jetta)
Interior lighting: Glove box lights, cigarette lighter/power outlets, luggage compartment, and all warning lights: Check
Panoramic Sunroof and Sliding/Tilting Sunroof: Check
Ribbed belt: Check condition
Underbody: Visually inspect underbody protection, underbody trim panels, wire routing, and plugs for damage
Windshield: Visually inspect for damage
Additional Maintenance Items
6-Speed DSG transmission fluid and filter: Change
Every 40K miles
7-Speed DSG transmission fluid: Change
Every 80K (Golf R only)
Air filter element and snow screen: Replace element and
clean screen and housing
Every 60k miles or 6 years, whichever occurs first
Automatic transmission fluid and filter: Change (non DSG,
automatic transmissions)
Every 80k miles
AWD clutch fluid: Change (if equipped)
Every 3 years (AWD only vehicles)
Brake fluid: Change
3 years after initial registration, then every 2 years, regardless of
mileage
Coolant pump toothed belt: Check
At 150k miles then every 20k miles
Dust and pollen filter: Replace
Every 40k miles or 2 years, whichever occurs first
Front axle differential lock fluid: Change (if equipped)
Every 3 years
Panorama Sliding Sunroof: (if equipped)

Sunroof: Check function, clean, lubricate, and check water

Timing belt: Check
At 150k miles then every 20k miles
Tire Filler Bottle (if equipped)
Every 2 years check expiration date, must not be more than 4
years old
