Customer may report a warning in the Driver Information System (DIS) about ACC or a concern about the MMI
main unit.
Workshop findings:
The following DTC may appear in the information electronics control module 1, J794 (address word 005F):
 DTC B163002 (predictive route data signal error)
Technical Background
If the DTC is sporadic, it is an information only DTC, it indicates the vehicle was operated in an area where no
predictive street data was provided and thus the vehicle functions requiring this information would not be active.
Affected vehicle functions can include, but are not limited to:
 Efficiency mode/assist
 Adaptive cruise control
 Adaptive lighting
 Traffic Jam assist

If the DTC is Static, pursue other troubleshooting steps to find the root cause. Some questions that may help
diagnose the concern:
 General location of the driver when they received the warning in the DIS?
 What were the driving conditions?
 Is the warning that the customer received in the owner’s manual?
 Does the fault code time/date match the customer description?

Not applicable.

Do not replace parts for a sporadic fault, this will not fix the condition. See Technical Background for more
information. Warranty claims that are submitted for this DTC and condition may be rejected.
