Technical Background
There is a communication fault with software level 103 in the J234 module. During the first few seconds of the
vehicle self-check, when there is a change in the PODS classification from occupied to unoccupied and then back
to occupied, this can cause a communication error between the J234 and K145 modules.
Even during this sequence, the passenger airbag indicator lamp will still properly display airbag on/off functionality
and the passenger airbag is fully functional after the error occurs and the fault code is set.
Production Solution
New software in the Airbag Control Module, J234 (address word 0015) addressed the condition.
