Technical Background On the camshaft adjustment valve, the filter element can loosen (Figure 1). There is no consequential damage from loosened particles in the oil circuit. They are gathered by the oil filter. Figure 1. Two top filters are okay, bottom filter is missing. Production Solution Optimized control valve production. Service 1. The camshaft adjustment valve is fitted in four different positions. Check the affected camshaft adjustment control valve (see DTC entry). The following list shows which component is affected, based on event entry: N205 – cylinder bank 1, inlet side N318 – cylinder bank 1, exhaust side N208 – cylinder bank 2, inlet side N319 – cylinder bank 2, exhaust side 2. Remove connector (Figure 2) from control valve with DTC. 3. Remove bolt (Figure 2) from control valve with DTC, then remove valve. Figure 2. Install O-ring on new control valve. Replace hex collard bolt and tighten new bolt to 5 Nm. Warranty Claim Type: 110 up to 48 Months/50,000 Miles. G10 for CPO Covered Vehicles – Verify Owner.
