Starter Motor Intermittently Grinds in Cold Weather

REVISION SUMMARY
Under PARTS INFORMATION, the starter motor part
numbers were revised.
SYMPTOM
The starter motor intermittently grinds in cold weather
(typically 45° F or colder).
POSSIBLE CAUSE
The starter clutch housing may be out of specification,
causing uneven loading between the clutch roller and
the starter pinion.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the starter motor.

Replace the starter motor as described in the
