 DTC P2440(00) (Secondary air injection system switching valve stuck open bank1)
 DTC P2442(00) (Secondary air injection system switching valve stuck open bank2)

One of two scenarios can cause this condition:
 Scenario A: One of the combi valves is defective.
 Scenario B: The vacuum solenoid is defective.
Production Solution
Updated combi valves and vacuum solenoid.
Service
1.
Before performing any repair, determine if Scenario A or Scenario B is causing the condition.
Scenario A is the cause if:
 One or both of the DTCs listed in the
Condition is stored.
 The bit for MIL on shows “1” for one
DTC only (Figure 1).

the MIL to illuminate.

Scenario B is the cause if:
 Both of the DTCs listed in the
Condition are stored.
 The DTCs were stored at the same
time.
 The bit for MIL on shows “1” for both
DTCs.

2. Depending on which scenario is present, replace the defective part:
For Scenario A:
 Replace the combi valve of the bank with the DTC that caused the MIL to illuminate.
For Scenario B:
Replace the vacuum solenoid valve that controls both of the combi valves.
