DTC 02283 (Video Cable Interruption) is stored in the rearview camera system control module J772 (address word 006C). Technical Background Deviations in the coaxial cable between rearview camera system control module and infotainment control module. Production Solution Not applicable. Service 1. Validate the customer concern by: Check for a DTC in the rearview camera system control module J772 (address word 006C). DTC 02283 (Video Cable Interruption) should be the only DTC found. The concern can be reproduced by wiggling the green Fakra connection on the rearview camera system control module J772 (address word 006C). Page 1 of 8 © 2016 Audi of America, Inc. If the customer’s concern cannot be validated by the steps above, then continue diagnosis outside of this TSB. 2. After the concern has been duplicated, and isolated to the Fakra connector at the rearview camera system control module J772 (address word 006C). A replacement of the green Fakra connector must be made: Aerial plug adapter 8T0971192 will need to be installed (Figure 1B, Image E). A new female coax terminal 000979910 and connector 6Q0035576K will need to be installed on the vehicle harness (Figure 1B, Image D). Figure 1. Modified wiring configuration replaces original green Fakra connector terminal (C) by installing aerial plug adapter 8T0971192 (E). Original harness is modified with the installation of a new female Fakra connector terminal (D). 3. Gain access to the rearview camera system control module J772 (address word 006C) in the right rear trunk by opening the right luggage compartment storage bin. Consult the repair manual for instructions. 4. Add additional slack to coaxial wire harness, this will remove unwanted tension from the connectors: Page 2 of 8 © 2016 Audi of America, Inc. Unplug both the green and grey Fakra connectors from the reversing camera control unit (Figure 2, Image A). Open the body harness along the path of the coaxial wiring by carefully cutting the fleece adhesive tape of the body harness (Figure 2, Image B). Cut the fleece adhesive tape back to the end stop of the harness retainer clip (Figure 2, Image C). Note: Be sure to utilize lacing tape cutters, or similar tooling when removing the fleece tape to help ensure that there is no damage to the wiring harness. Page 3 of 8 © 2016 Audi of America, Inc. This cut line is represented by dotted line (B). The cut line stops at the end stop of the harness retainer, shown by dotted line (C). 5. Remove the existing female coax terminal in the green Fakra connector and install a new replacement female coax terminal and connector: Cut the coax wire where it connects to the green Fakra connector (Figure 3, Image A). Figure 3. Cut the coax wire at dotted line (A), where it connects to the green Fakra connector. Using the VAS 6720, crimp on a new female Fakra coax terminal. Install a new plastic Fakra connector housing (6Q0035576K) onto the new terminal end. 6. Connect newly installed wiring: Reconnect the grey Fakra connector to the rearview camera system control module J772 (Figure 4, Image A). Connect the aerial plug adapter 8T0971192 into rearview camera system control module J772 (Figure 4, Image B). Connect the other end of the aerial plug adapter 8T0971192 to the terminal end installed in step 5 (Figure 4, Image D). Secure the new wiring to the rear cover wiring harness (Figure 4, Image E) with a piece of fleece adhesive tape (Figure 4, Image C). Ensure there are no kinks, bends, or strain on the new wiring. Figure 4. Reconnect grey Fakra connector (A) to the rearview camera system control module J772. Connect the aerial plug adapter 8T0971192 (B) to the rearview camera system control module J772. Connect the other end of the aerial plug adapter to the newly installed Fakra connector on the main body harness (D). Secure the new coaxial wire to the rear cover wire harness (E) with a piece of fleece adhesive tape (C). Ensure there are no kinks, bends, or strain on the coaxial wiring. 7.
