Condition/Concern
Some customers may comment on an automatic transmission fluid leak. Upon further investigation, the technician may find fluid leaking from the torque
converter housing and the torque converter seal.
Recommendation/Instructions
Important: It is recommended that a new torque converter seal be installed any time the transmission is removed from the vehicle for any reason. DO NOT
remove the transmission from the vehicle to replace the torque converter seal unless there is a torque converter seal leak or other internal transmission repairs
are needed.
If diagnosis determines that the leak is the torque converter seal, the seal should be replaced. A torque converter seal that makes use of a more robust sealing
material is now available.
This revised seal is also included in the automatic transmission seal kit P/Ns 24269583, 24267774, 24267569 and 24267776.
Note: DO NOT order a seal kit unless it is necessary to remove the transmission from the vehicle to perform internal transmission repairs.

GM bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, NOT a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform these technicians of conditions that may
occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools,
safety instructions, and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, DO NOT assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that
your vehicle will have that condition. See your GM dealer for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
