STATE I/M PROGRAM ADVISORY BULLETIN
APPLICABILITY: 2010 Legacy 2.5GT 6MT
SUBJECT: VECI Label Reference During
		 State Emission Test
NUMBER: 11-165-16
DATE: 09/20/16
THIS BULLETIN IS FOR ADVISORY INFORMATION
Background
Federal vehicle labeling requirements are specified in 40 CFR §86.1807-01. In addition, California
vehicle labeling must conform to the requirements in §1965, Title 13, CCR and the “California
Exhaust Emission Standards and Test Procedures for 2001 and Subsequent Model Passenger Cars
and Light-Duty Trucks, and Medium-Duty Vehicles” (last amended September 27, 2010).
Introduction
The California Smog Check program, as well as other State Inspection & Maintenance vehicle
emission inspection programs, use the underhood Vehicle Emission Control Information (VECI) label
as an integral part of their visual emission inspection procedures.
Subaru of America, Inc. has determined that there is a typographical error on the underhood VECI
label for Subaru Legacy 2.5GT 6MT models with turbo engine. The incorrect label identifies the
vehicle being equipped with secondary “AIR” as indicated below. The vehicles were correctly
built without secondary AIR. The typographical error has no impact on emission performance or
drivability. The remainder of the 2010 model year Subaru VECI label is correct.
“AIR” to be deleted
