Some 2016 – 2017 model year Tacoma vehicles equipped with the 6 speed manual transmission
(RC62F) may exhibit a high pitch whine noise when driving in 5th or 6th gear. A NEW heat insulator
is available to address this condition.

APPLICABLE WARRANTY
This repair is covered under the Toyota Basic Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months
or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle’s in-service date.

Repair Procedure
1. Does the vehicle exhibit a high pitch whine noise when driving in 5th or 6th gear?

Yes – Continue to step 2.

No – This bulletin does NOT apply. Continue diagnosis using the applicable Repair Manual.
2. Remove the 4 bolts and the Release Cylinder Heat Insulator from the manual
transmission assembly.

3. Install the NEW Release Cylinder Heat Insulator to the manual transmission assembly with
4 NEW bolts.
Torque: 12 N*m (120 kgf*cm, 9 ft*lbf)
4. Confirm proper vehicle operation and the high pitch whine is no longer present.
