Introduction
Some 2011 – 2016 model year CT 200h vehicles equipped with a 2ZR-FXE engine may exhibit a
MIL “ON” condition with Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) P2111 (Throttle Actuator Control System)
and P0A0F (Engine Failed to Start) present when ambient temperatures are below 23F (–5C).The
intake manifold assembly has been improved as well as the Engine Control Module/ECM (SAE Term:
Powertrain Control Module/PCM) logic has been modified to reduce the possibility of this condition
occurring. Follow the repair procedure in this bulletin to address this condition.

APPLICABLE WARRANTY
• This repair is covered under the Lexus Federal Emission Warranty. This warranty is in effect
for 48 months or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle’s in-service date.
• For California specification vehicles sold and operated in California (California Emission
Long-Term coverage for Intake Manifold only applies to ’15 – ’16 CT200h), Connecticut,
Delaware (starting with ’14 MY), Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Mexico (’11
MY only), New York (starting with ’16 MY) Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and
Washington, this repair is covered under the California Emission Warranty, which is 84 months
or 70,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle’s in-service date.
• Warranty application is limited to occurrence of the specified condition described in this
bulletin.

Repair Procedure
1. Use Techstream to check for DTCs and confirm the condition per the Introduction.
2. Remove and replace the intake manifold with the updated part. Refer to the Technical
Information System (TIS), applicable model year CT 200h Repair Manual:
• 2011 CT 200h:

3. Check for the Authorized Modifications Label affixed to the vehicle in the location shown in
Figure 1 below.
Is the ECM/PCM calibration the most recent calibration according to the table above?
• YES — This bulletin does NOT apply. Continue diagnosis using the applicable Repair
Manual.
• NO — Continue to step 4.

4. Follow the procedures outlined in Service Bulletin L-SB-0021-14 “Techstream ECU Flash
Reprogramming Procedure” and flash the ECM (PCM) with the NEW calibration file update.

5. Install the Authorized Modifications Label.
A. Using a permanent marker, enter the following information on the label:
• ECM Part number (Refer to the Parts Information section for the NEW PART NUMBER)
• Calibration ID(s) (Refer to the Calibration Information section for the NEW CALIBRATION
ID)
• Dealer Code
• Repair Date
• Change Authority (This bulletin number)
B. Affix the Authorized Modification Label to the vehicle at the location shown in Figure 1. The
Authorized Modifications Label is available through the MDC, P/N 00451-00001-LBL.
6. Confirm the Repair.
A. Confirm P2111 and P0A0F are not present after cold soak.
B. Test Drive the vehicle to confirm proper vehicle operation.
