This new vehicle is loaded with advanced technology such as a new environmentally friendly air conditioning refrigerant, R1234YF. Even though this refrigerant is more environmentally friendly than its predecessor, R134A, it may include other elements that require caution when handling the refrigerant. Therefore, the Environmental Protection Agency Clean Air Act, section 609, mandates dealers who order R1234YF (part# - A998ZC1X07) to provide proof of certification for handling refrigerant. In addition, this requirement also applies to future orders of refrigerant R134A (part# - A998ZC1X08). A dealer must provide proof of technician refrigerant handling certification and submit via email to: [email protected] Note: There are two avenues for a technician to achieve refrigerant handling certification, through ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) @ www.ase.org or MACS (Mobile Air Conditioning Society) at www.macsw.org. The following process will occur when part# A998ZC1X07 or A998ZC1X08 is needed: • Dealer places their order • MMNA verifies a valid certification is on file (if no valid certification can be verified the order will be cancelled) • MMNA will release the dealer’s order For more information regarding the EPA’s Clean Air Act, Section 609 go to: www.epa.gov Regards, Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc.
