and Audi at Home program in the USA. A Repair Authorization must be obtained for this vehicle when it arrives
at an Audi dealership requiring diagnosis or repair.
 PDI for this vehicle does not require prior authorization or a TAC ticket. For all other concerns, the procedures
in this bulletin are mandatory until further notice. Warranty repairs without authorization via a TAC ticket will
not be reimbursed.
 Routine maintenance for this vehicle should be performed only at an authorized Audi AG maintenance facility
for Audi on Demand/Audi at Home vehicles and should not be performed at the Audi Dealership unless
authorized by TAC.

 Special software for the 05/46-BCM2 central comfort convenience module.
 If this vehicle no longer has any of the equipment installed then this repair authorization can be ignored. Once
the vehicle is retired out of service for the program, the vehicles are remarketed and resold. At this point the
cars are returned to the factory specifications.
Note:
Because of the special modifications, SVM work should never be performed on this vehicle. Additionally, a VAS
tester should not be hooked into the vehicle under any circumstance except for when the vehicle is being taken
out of Transport Mode or when the SRI is being set. Any additional PDI work requiring a VAS tester should not be
performed on this vehicle.
 There may be a warning posted inside of the
vehicle at the time of delivery from the port
(Figure 1).
Tip: After PDI is completed, remove the
warning and place it in the maintenance manual
in the glove box.

Technical Background
Audi of America (in conjunction with AUDI AG) is conducting a pilot program in the USA with a limited number of
specially-built vehicles. These vehicles have a persistent internet connection and are designed to be accessed
and started without the need for a traditional remote key. Instead, these vehicles use NFC (Near-field
connectivity), or an iPhone with the Audi on Demand app, utilizing Bluetooth connectivity. The customer must
leave the NFC card with the vehicle in order for the vehicle to be accessed and started. See the Service section of
this bulletin for more information about the NFC card.
Production Solution
Not applicable.
Service
TAC ticket submission:
1. Create a TAC ticket before starting any repairs for any concerns with this vehicle.
2. Attach a generic file to the TAC ticket, as a VAS tester cannot be hooked into this vehicle for any reason.
3. If there is an OBD/DLC port cover, ensure that it stays installed on the vehicle at all times.
NFC card authorization process to access and start the vehicle:
 To unlock doors:
a. Touch the NFC card to the Kessy capacitive button (rectangular marking) on the driver side door handle for
about 2.5 seconds.
b. All doors should unlock. At this point, the trunk may be unlocked by using only the switch in the driver side
door.
 To start the vehicle using the engine start button:
a. Close all doors to the vehicle.
b. Place the NFC card on reader device located under the center console armrest.
c. Wait until the reader device LED switches from red to green.
d. Press the engine start button on the center console to start the engine.
e. Once the engine has started, the NFC card can be put away. It does not need to remain on the card reader.

in any form or by any means, electronic, mechanical, photocopying, recording, or otherwise, nor may these materials be modified or reposted to other sites, without the prior expressed written permission of the

Tip: If the driver side door is opened during this process, or if the engine start button is not pressed within a
certain amount of time, the procedure will be cancelled. To restart the procedure, remove the NFC card and place
it back on the reader until the light turns green.
 To lock the doors:
a. Put the shift lever in Park, turn the ignition off, and close all doors and the rear lid.
b. Touch the NFC card to the Kessy capacitive button (rectangular marking) on the driver side door handle for
about 2 seconds.
c. All doors should lock.
