Depending on the vehicle condition and number of original keys provided, there are different Immobilizer Key Code registration procedures. Follow the repair procedure carefully to assure correct registration of the Immobilizer Key Codes. Repair Procedure 1. Connect the GR8 Battery Diagnostic Station in Power Supply mode. 2. Determine how many keys have been provided. 3. If more than one key has been provided, label the keys 1, 2, and 3. 4. Use the following chart to determine which repair procedure to follow: ABLE TO COMMUNICATE WITH THE MAIN BODY ECU KEYS PROVIDED All UNABLE TO COMMUNICATE WITH THE MAIN BODY ECU Repair Procedure A Some Repair Procedure B None Repair Procedure C Repair Procedure C Repair Procedure A – ALL Keys Provided 1. Install the new Main Body ECU, ensuring the connectors are fully seated. 2. Turn “IG ON” with key #1. 3. Perform the Key Registration utility in Techstream. 4. ECU initialization (“Hand shake”): A. Put a jumper wire in DLC3 connected between TC and CG. B. Turn ignition ON and verify combination meter lights are blinking. C. Run this initialization 30 – 45 minutes to complete repair procedure. NOTE Add any additional keys as needed using the normal Key Registration utility authorized by a registered master key. 5. Verify the vehicle operates normally and initialize any systems that may require initialization. © 2013 Toyota Motor Sales, USA February 6, 2013 S-SB-0007-13 Page 3 of 3 Main Body ECU Replacement-Repair Manual Supplement Repair Procedure B – SOME Keys Provided 1. With the original Main Body ECU installed in the vehicle, choose a primary key and turn the “IG ON”, set other keys aside for now. 2. Perform the Key Code Erasure utility. 3. Install the new Main Body ECU. 4. With the primary key, turn the “IG ON” and perform the Key Registration utility in Techstream. 5. Register the other keys. 6. ECU initialization (“Hand shake”). A. Put a jumper wire in DLC3 connected between TC and CG. B. Turn ignition ON and verify combination meter lights are blinking. C. Run this initialization 30 – 45 minutes to complete repair procedure. NOTE Add any additional keys as needed using the normal Key Registration utility authorized by a registered master key. 7. Verify the vehicle operates normally and initialize any systems that may require initialization. Repair Procedure C – NO Key Provided 1. Replace the Main Body ECU and the combination meter. 2. With the NEW key, turn the “IG ON” and perform the Key Registration utility in Techstream. 3. Register other keys if needed. 4. ECU initialization (“Hand shake”): A. Put a jumper wire in DLC3 connected between TC and CG. B. Turn ignition ON and verify combination meter lights are blinking. C. Run this initialization 30 – 45 minutes to complete repair procedure. NOTE Add any additional keys as needed using the normal Key Registration utility authorized by a registered master key. 5.
