Tech Tip T-TT-0322-15 January 07, 2016 Subject Market Water Leak From Moonroof Drain Hose - Kinked Hose - Panoramic Roof Only USA Service Category Section Vehicle Interior Interior Panels/Trim Applicability 14-15MY Highlander/HV APPLICABLE VEHICLES 2014-2015 Highlander 2014-2015 Highlander HV CONDITION Some vehicles may experience a condition in which the drain hoses for the sunroof/moonroof assembly become kinked, or pinched. This may cause water leaks into the cabin from the housing assembly drip trays, or the customer may note water stains on the headliner assembly. RECOMMENDATIONS The material used on these hoses will retain a shape memory once pinched, kinked, or damaged. Therefore it is important that vehicles experiencing this condition, receive replacement service part drain hoses that have not been kinked/pinched/damaged during storage or shipping and are completely clear of any shape abnormalities. When replacing the damaged drain hose, it is also important to ensure that the hose is installed correctly and oriented as shown in the example below to help prevent a kinked condition from occurring again.
