Bulletin No.: 09-08-45-004C Date: Mar-2013 Subject: Implementation of Logistics Fuse - Additional Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) Steps and Inventory Considerations Models: 2012-2014 Chevrolet Captiva Sport (U.S. Fleet Only) This bulletin is being revised to add the 2014 model year. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 09-08-45-004B (Section 08 – Body and Accessories). The Chevrolet Captiva is built and shipped with a “Logistics Fuse” disconnected in the instrument panel bussed electrical center (IPBEC). The purpose of this fuse is to reduce loads on the vehicle battery during vehicle transportation. While the key is off, battery drain is significantly reduced and all functions are maintained with the key on. Changes to PDI Important: Prior to PDI, it is required that the technician re-seat this Logistics Fuse to fully evaluate vehicle operation. Failure to re-seat the Logistics Fuse will result in inoperative Remote Keyless Entry and Remote Start functions while the key is off. Additionally, with the Logistics Fuse removed, the radio clock and station pre-sets will be lost with each ignition cycle. The PDI forms have been modified to reference this bulletin. The Logistics Fuse is located in the IPBEC and is labeled “Audio.” This fuse is retained in a holder that simply requires a “thumb push” to re-seat the fuse. To Re-Seat the Logistics Fuse 1. With the Key off, remove the IPBEC cover (2) from the passenger foot well inner trim. 1 2. Locate the Logistics Fuse (1) and press firmly into the fuse block. Inventory Considerations It is strongly recommended that this Logistics Fuse be again removed while the vehicle is in inventory. Cross-training will be required to assure all retailer employees are aware of the procedures within your facility. Disconnecting this Logistics Fuse will significantly increase storage time with reduced battery discharge. Suggested Logistics Fuse use within the retailer: 1. Prior to placing the vehicle into inventory, pull the Logistics Fuse. 2. Set the IPBEC Cover on the passenger seat to communicate to the next vehicle user that the fuse needs to be re-seated. The following items will not be powered with the key off and the Logistics Fuse removed: • Instrument Panel Cluster • Radio • Retained Accessory Power (RAP) • Remote Control Door Lock Receiver (RCDLR) • Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) Fobs • Garage Door Opener • Red Security LED on Center Stack All of the above items receive power with the key on through an added diode. Warranty Information Re-Seating the Logistics Fuse is considered part of PDI and should not be billed under warranty. GM bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, NOT a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform these technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions, and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, DO NOT assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See your GM dealer for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information. WE SUPPORT VOLUNTARY TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATION 2
