Complaint:
- The front left or right turn signal is inoperative
- Display in instrument cluster "Turn Signal Bulb Failure"
- The turn signal flash frequency is increased
- Fault code B163A11 or B163E11 is current or is stored in the front SAM control unit
The problem is no longer present when the ignition has been switched off and on.
Cause:
Due to tolerances in the bulb amperage of the front turn signals, the front SAM control unit erroneously detects a short
circuit to ground.
Remedy:
Development approval for a new coding for the front SAM control unit with adjusted threshold value for the short circuit recognition is being prepared.
No countermeasure is available at the present time; replacing the parts (Front SAM (CBC), turn signal bulb, housing)
is not effective.
