Cause:
Changed heating duration of auxiliary heater with introduction of STH control unit (N33/3) A 906 900 78 01 and the
new auxiliary heater A 906 830 59 00.
Remedy:

Model 906.### #E as of 068531, model 906.### #N as of 527179 and model 906.### #S as of 708568 are fitted with
the control unit A 906 900 78 01 and the new auxiliary heater A 906 830 59 00 as standard. The modification for the
auxiliary heater is carried out only at the request of the customer. For this reason, the costs must be billed to the customer.

No restriction of heating duration by control unit
With the modification the heating duration is not limited by the control unit. The heating duration of the auxiliary heater
is therefore no longer dependent on the outside temperature or the charge level of the starter battery. The total heating duration is now determined solely by the operating period programmed by the user (max. 60 minutes per ON cycle).
Therefore, in the case of vehicles as of vehicle identification number 906.### #E068531, N527179, S708568, the section "Heating duration" in the "Climate control" chapter of the operator's manual is no longer applicable after the modification.
Note:
Please remind your customers that when the auxiliary heater is operated for long periods, the engine should be running in order to protect the starter battery. Otherwise it cannot be guaranteed that the engine will start (due to the low
charge level in the starter battery).
Changing the operating period manually
The modification also allows the operating period to be changed manually using the remote control (special equipment). Further details on this can be found in the vehicle operator's manual in the "Climate control" chapter.
