Gearshift Selector Lever Bezel Door Binding, Skewed And/Or Not Latching

Issue: Some 2014-2018 Taurus and Police Interceptor Sedan vehicles may exhibit the gearshift selector lever bezel
door binding, skewed and/or not latching. This may be due to the door post becoming detached from the bezel door
pivot linkage.
Action: Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

Service Procedure
1. Inspect the door pivot pin and pivot pin linkage for damage. Is any damage present? (Figures 1 - 2)
(1). Yes - replace the gearshift selector lever bezel. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 307-05.
(2). No - proceed to step 2.

2. Gently pull up on the edge of the door and align with the linkage, then snap the pivot post into the pivot linkage
and cycle the lid to verify proper operation. Does the door function properly? (Figure 3)
(1). Yes - repair is complete.
(2). No - replace the gearshift selector lever bezel. Refer to WSM, Section 307-05.
