SITUATION
Vehicle brakes produce a squealing noise when applied at low speed.
CAUSE
Guide pin on the rear brake caliper bracket.
CORRECTION
Replace rear brake caliper carriers with new part number, as well as discs and pads.
PROCEDURE
For conditions that are similar to the situation described:
1. Identify, by external observation, where the noise is coming from.
Is the sound coming from the rear brakes?
YES- go to next step.
NO – continue diagnosis with ISTA NED.
2. Identify the rear brake caliper carrier part numbers:
a. Compare vehicle caliper carrier part numbers to the “old” part numbers listed below

b. Does the vehicle brake caliper carrier match the “old” part number listed above?
Yes- go to the next step
No- continue as described in the attached brake squeal repair guide
3. Replace the affected caliper carriers with the “new” part number found in parts information
Note: Brake replacement requires new pads and discs on both sides of the vehicle.
Note: Correct brake pad greasing is important for proper operation and brake squeal elimination.
Failure to properly grease pads (as described in attached brake repair guide) may result in return visit for
squealing brakes.
