OVERVIEW:
Sunroof may open, close or vent by itself while driving. The sunroof may also perform an
auto reversal. Auto reverse feature functions properly.

NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles within the following markets/countries:
NAFTA.
NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles built on or before July 02, 2015 (MDH
0702XX) equipped with Power Sunroof (Sales Code GWA) and equipped with
Universal Garage Door Opener (Sales Code XGD).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The customer may describe the sunroof opens by itself in the vent position or while driving.
DIAGNOSIS:
If the customer describes the symptom/condition listed above, perform the Repair
Procedure.

1. Remove the passenger A-Pillar trim piece (Fig. 1). Refer to the detailed service
procedures available in DealerCONNECT> TechCONNECT under: 23 Body/Interior/Panel, A-Pillar Trim/Removal.

2. Locate the sunroof circuit wiring connector. Examine the harness running up the A
Pillar. If the harness is tight or stretched (causing connector stress), it may be pulling
on the connector pins causing an intermittent connection. The figure shown shows a
good wire harness with proper length (Fig. 2).

3. Is the harness found to be tight or stretched?
a. YES>>> Separate the sunroof connector and inspect the connector and pins for
damage. Proceed to Step #1.
b. NO>>> Further diagnosis may be needed. Refer to the detailed service procedures
available in DealerCONNECT> TechCONNECT under: 23 Body/Sunroof/Diagnosis and Testing>Power Top Sunroof.

Sunroof Connector Kit
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Repair and lengthen the sunroof male 12-pin connector with a replacement connector
and wiring in the kit (Fig. 3) and stagger each wire repair to the individual wires repair
all 9 wires. See figures (Fig. 4), (Fig. 5) & (Fig. 6) for reference. Refer to the detailed
service procedures available in DealerCONNECT> TechCONNECT under: 29 Non-DTC Diagnostics/Circuit Testing Procedures/Standard Procedure>Wire Splicing.
After repair is completed proceed to Step #2.
NOTE: When repairing the wire harness, lengthen the wires enough to avoid any
stress on the connector as in (Fig. 2).

2. Test the sunroof. Does it operate normally?
a. YES>>> Repair is complete. Reinstall the passenger A-Pillar trim piece (Fig. 1).
Refer to the detailed service procedures available in DealerCONNECT>
TechCONNECT under: 23 - Body/Interior/Panel, A-Pillar Trim/Installation.
b. NO>>> Further diagnosis may be needed. Refer to the detailed service procedures
available in DealerCONNECT> TechCONNECT under: 23 Body/Sunroof/Diagnosis and Testing>Sunroof.
3. Check the operation of the interior lights and any component that is located in the
headliner for proper function.
4. Clear any DTCs that may have been set due to the loose connector. The wiTECH
application will automatically present any DTCs and allow them to be cleared.
