On all 2018 model year vehicles, the Service Parts
Identification (SPID) label will be discontinued and
much of the information formerly contained in the SPID
will now be a QR code on the Certification Label. The
change will be phased in over the next several months.
If the Certification Label does not have a QR code, the
SPID label can be found in its usual location.
A QR code is a type of two-dimensional barcode. The
Certification Label is adhered to the driver side B pillar.

Software to read QR codes is commonly available for
Android, iPhone and Windows Smartphones. Many
applications are free of charge or for a nominal fee will
provide extra features. A number of free applications
have tested successfully to read the QR code.
Suggestions for easy to use readers include:
NeoReader by NM LLC, i-nigma by 3GVision, QR
Scanner by Honestly App, QR Droid by DroidLa and
Bar-Code by PW2. The scanner software has a
selection to email the QR data if a copy needs to be
retained for records.

Engineering Book, Vehicle Order Number, 3 Digit RPO
Codes sorted alphanumerically and the Paint Code

GM bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, NOT a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform these
technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper
service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions, and know-how to do a
job properly and safely. If a condition is described, DO NOT assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your
vehicle will have that condition. See your GM dealer for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the
information.
