Commonly referred to as R1234 or R1234yf. It is being introduced into the market to comply with upcoming Green House Gas regulations. 2. When will this be introduced? 2017 Outback and Legacy models will be the first Subaru models to be equipped with the new HFO‐1234yf air conditioning refrigerant. 3. Is this refrigerant unique to Subaru? This new refrigerant has already been implemented by several other OEMs both in the U.S. and Europe. 4. What equipment is required by Subaru to service this new refrigerant? HFO‐1234yf Recover, Recycle, Recharge Machine HFO‐1234yf Oil Injector Contaminated Refrigerant Recovery Machine 5. Is this equipment mandatory? All Subaru Retailers will be required to have the equipment necessary to repair and service HFO‐1234yf equipped vehicles at the time of vehicle launch (July, 2016). 6. Do I really need the manual Oil Injector that is listed as mandatory? Yes, Recovery/Recycle/Recharge machines for older refrigerant types had integrated oil injection systems that would add oil during the recharge cycle. For HFO‐1234yf, SAE has determined that automatic oiling systems will likely cause oil contamination due to the many different types of oil used depending on the type of the vehicle (Gas, Hybrid, EV, etc.). Therefore, it is necessary to have the technician manually inject the proper amount and type of oil for the application. 7. Is it a requirement to order through this program? Subaru highly recommends the use of the specific equipment listed to meet the requirements. However, if a retailer finds a suitable substitute, it will be acceptable if it conforms to the relevant SAE standards. 8. Why order equipment through this program? Equipment purchased through this program meets the specification for Subaru equipment requirements. Purchase will be conveniently invoiced on the retailer’s Subaru Accounts Receivable (AR) statement. Discounted pricing. 9. How do I place my order? Complete the order list posted on Subarunet, sign and return to Bosch via fax or email. 10. When do I need to place my order? All orders must be submitted by April 19, 2016. Every retailer is required to have qualifying equipment to service Subaru vehicles. Orders received after this date will not qualify for discounted pricing through this one time offer. 11. How will the order be billed? The order will be billed through the Subaru Accounts Receivable (AR) statement. Freight and sales tax will be calculated and added to the total. 12. When will I receive the equipment I ordered? Equipment will begin arriving at all Subaru Retailers in June 2016. 13. How do I know if the equipment I already have meets the requirements? A survey was completed by your DPSM to determine if your shop met the requirements. Many retailers responded that they had the proper equipment when in fact, they were reporting older R‐134a recovery equipment. Those responses were removed from the survey. A list of retailers that already qualify (according to their survey responses) has been provided to your DPSM. Consult with your DPSM to confirm that your shop met the requirements or confirm that your equipment is one of the models listed below. 14. What equipment qualifies? The following equipment meets Subaru and SAE requirements for: Recovery/Recycle/Recharge Equipment ‐ Robinair AC1234‐6 (or OEM equivalent) Robinair AC1234‐7 (or ‐8) Ford equipment Robinair GE‐50300 GM equivalent Robinair 10500 Mopar equivalent Robinair ROB421234 Honda equivalent Mahle ACX1280M Mahle RHS1280 Flo‐dynamics FFX1234 CPS FX1234 Contaminated Refrigerant Recovery Equipment ‐ Robinair 25700 Robinair GE‐25700 (GM) 15.
