CHANGING SERVICE BULLETIN TO AN RRT STATUS.
THIS SERVICE BULLETIN IS ALSO BEING RELEASED AS RAPID RESPONSE
TRANSMITTAL (RRT) 14-057. ALL APPLICABLE SOLD AND UN-SOLD RRT VIN's
HAVE BEEN LOADED. TO VERIFY THAT THIS RRT SERVICE ACTION IS
APPLICABLE TO THE VEHICLE, USE VIP OR PERFORM A VIN SEARCH IN
TECHCONNECT. ALL REPAIRS ARE REIMBURSABLE WITHIN THE PROVISIONS OF
WARRANTY.

Coolant Weepage At EGR Hose
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves replacing the EGR hose.
MODELS:
2011 - 2013
WK
Grand Cherokee (International Only)
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The EGR coolant hose may weep coolant.
DIAGNOSIS:
**If a customer’s VIN is listed in VIP or your RRT VIN list, perform the repair. For all other
customers that describe the symptom/condition, perform the Repair Procedure.**

EGR Coolant Hose
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
WARNING:All pressurized air suspension components contain high pressure air (up
to 220 psig). Use extreme caution when inspecting for leaks. Wear safety
goggles and adequate protective clothing when inspecting or servicing
the air suspension system. A sudden release of air under this amount of
pressure can cause possible serious or fatal injury.

WARNING:Support the vehicle by supplemental means before performing any work
on the air suspension system to prevent the vehicle from changing
height. Before any given component is to be serviced it must be deflated.
Servicing the air suspension system without supplemental support, or
with pressure in the specific component, can cause possible serious or
fatal injury.
CAUTION: COOLING SYSTEM MAY BE UNDER HIGH TEMPERATURES AND HIGH
PRESSURES. USE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN REMOVING THE
RADIATOR CAP.
NOTE: The coolant is to be drained into a clean pan and REUSED, no additional
coolant will be required.
1. Drain the cooling system. Follow the detailed procedures available in
DealerCONNECT/TECHCONNECT, Refer To 07 - Cooling - Standard Procedure >
DRAINING.
2. If equipped with air suspension (SER), with a scan tool, using the routines under the
ASCM, perform the following.
a. Disable the air suspension system.
b. Run the Spring Deflate To Reservoir routine on the right front air suspension spring.
3. Remove engine top cover.
4. Remove fuel injector silencer from right cylinder bank (Fig. 1).

5. Raise the vehicle on a suitable hoist. Refer to the detailed service procedures
available in DealerCONNECT> TechCONNECT under: Service Info> 04- Vehicle
Quick Reference> Hoisting> Standard Procedure> Hoisting.
-36. Remove engine belly pan.
7. Lower vehicle.
8. Remove glow plug module (Fig. 2).

9. Disconnect glow plug module and relay wiring harness (Fig. 3).

10. Put wiring harness to the side (Fig. 3).

11. Use hose clamp pliers and remove hose clamp at EGR cooler (Fig. 5).

12. Lift vehicle.
13. Remove the stabilizer link (7) to lower control arm nut (Fig. 6).

14. Use a paint marker and place a mark on the rear control arm bushing bracket to the
cradle (6) (Fig. 6).
15. Remove shock and clevis bracket to lower control arm nut and bolt (6) (Fig. 6).
16. Remove the lower control arm pivot nut and bolt from the lower control arm (3) (Fig. 7).

17. Remove the lower control arm rear pivot vertical bolt and nut (1) and the lower control
arm rear pivot horizontal bolt and nut (2) from lower control arm (Fig. 7).

18. Remove right front lower control arm partially from vehicle with ball joint still connected
to knuckle. This is required to get access to the coolant hose from underneath.
19. Gain access from right side underneath the vehicle to EGR cooler hose and remove
hose clamp at EGR cooler pipe.
20. Remove EGR cooler hose.
21. Install new EGR hose.
22. Install all parts in revers order, ensure the paint marks are aligned on the control arm
and bracket.
23. Refill and evacuate coolant system. Follow the detailed procedures available in
DealerCONNECT/TECHCONNECT, Refer To 07 - Cooling - Standard Procedure >
STANDARD PROCEDURE - COOLANT AIR EVACUATION.
NOTE: For MY 2011 & 2012 vehicles use MOPAR® Antifreeze/Coolant 5 Year/100,000
Mile Formula HOAT p/n 05066386AA; for MY 2013 vehicles use MOPAR®
Antifreeze/Coolant 10 Year/150,000 Mile Formula OAT p/n 68163848AA.
