Cause
Diagnostic checks for the reverse and/or back-up lights not working may find no fault in
the light circuit and no fault codes to suggest a failure. This issue is most likely to occur
following repairs that involve the wiring in the dash.
Solution
If all diagnostic steps for the conditions above lead to No Fault Found (NFF), an
additional item to check are the data link connections to the LCM. There are three Tee
(3-way) connectors for the J1587 And J1939 data links located in the dash: Two of the
connectors supply the LCM and the third leads to another branch.
Ensure that all three connections are clean and tight. An example of an unplugged
connector is shown below. Note that the example below did not set any fault codes
pointing directly to a particular circuit or component and because it was the data link that
was unplugged, the reverse light circuit was found free of faults.
